Former Union finance minister P Chidambaram’s judicial custody has been extended in the INX Media money laundering case. A special CBI court at Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Complex on Wednesday extended the judicial custody of Chidambaram till December 11. The case has been investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The union minister was arrested by the ED on October 16 and subsequently sent to judicial custody by the court in Tihar jail till November 27. On Wednesday, the former union minister was presented before the court.
Earlier, the High Court on November 15 had dismissed Chidambaram’s bail plea. Later, he moved the Supreme Court challenging the HC order. He was first arrested by the CBI on August 21 in the INX Media corruption case but later granted bail by the SC two months later.
