A pale of gloom descended in Chaygaon's Jurxilmuli area after a child drowned in a pond there.
The deceased child has been identified as 7-year-old Moina Begum.
As per reports, the child was playing with her friends nearby the lake when she fell down in the lake.
Even though the child was recovered immediately and taken to Sontali Health Centre, where she was declared brought dead.
