City Police releases advisory ahead of New Year bash


Guwahati traffic Police on Saturday issued an advisory to maintain law and order in the city on the eve of New Year celebrations.

Amanjeet Kaur, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) issued the advisory stating restrictions on traffic, parking and security, among others.

Expecting heavy footfall on December 31 and January 1, the traffic Police in its notification, clearly said that “Do not drink and drive: There would be police check points across the city to check traffic violations especially, cases of drunken driving. In cases of serious violation of law, the violator may be arrested and sent to jail.

Cooperation from citizens is required to help maintain public peace and order in the city. They are requested not to indulge in drunken brawls and street fights.

No service of Liquor to underage persons: Do not serve liquor to people who are underage as per Excise laws. Legal action will be taken in case any such incident is noticed.
