Cleanest Village Mawlynnong Submerged Under Water

The cleanest village in Asia, Mawlynnong inMeghalaya has also not been spared by flood as the village is submerged underwater due to incessant rain.

Heavy downpour in the entire Northeast regionhas also turned grim for visitors especially in Meghalaya where maximum number oftourists visited the place during the summer season.

A visual also showed that the well-known livingroot bridge has also been submerged by flood water.

Mawlynnong, which is famous for its cleanlinesssituated in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya, has been inundated withfloods for which tourists have not been able to visit their dream place duringits summer vacation.  The village comesunder the Pynursla community development block and Vidhan Sabha constituency.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma hasassured the MLAs of Phulbari and Rajabala that all necessary measures will betaken as a precautionary intervention in the wake of flood in plain belt areasof the hill state.

Meanwhile, the entire state is facing riskfactors as incessant rain and floods triggered in the areas. The state has beenput on high alert to avoid unprecedented circumstances. Many properties havealso been damaged due to landslide.

Official reports also stated that schoolbuildings and government offices have also been destroyed in the state.
