CM holds review meeting with Upper Assam SPs

AssamChief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday held a review meeting with theSuperintendents of Police of 10 Upper Assam districts and took stock of theprevailing law and order situation in those districts. The meeting was held atthe conference hall of Deputy Commissioner's Office, Dibrugarh.

TheCM appreciated the role played by Assam Police in the fight against coronavirusand urged them to maintain the continuity in the supply chain of essentialcommodities to minimise hardships of the common people during the extendedlockdown period.

He alsodirected the police department to issue immediate warnings to those who postshateful or inciting messages on social media and asked them to conduct opinionpolls on social media to get people's feedback.

He furtherurged the police department to take good care of the migrant workers andlabourers stranded in Assam from other States.

Informing that Assam has 32 districts in the list of 750 high risk districts prepared by Union Health Ministry for coronavirus and which are being monitored by Prime Minister's Office, the Chief Minister urged the police department to stay prepared for all eventualities.

Four DIGs of northern, north eastern, eastern and central ranges were also present in the meeting which was attended by SPs of Dibrugarh, Sadia, Tinsukia, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Majuli, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Golaghat and Charaideo.
