Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal on Sunday inaugurated the proceeding of handing over land pattas and allotment letters to nearly 11,500 landless families at a function held in Sonitpur district.
The distributing of land pattas to landless people is a part of Assam government's commitment to ensure land rights to the indigenous people of the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister said, the State Government will give land pattas to all landless families of the state in phased manner.
He said, it is a matter of pain that large numbers of people of Assam living in the state for decades don't have ownership over their land. The land patta distribution programmes were held in 23 districts.
