CM orders high-level enquiry into Dokmoka mob lynching case

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has ordered a high-level enquiry into the Dokmoka mob lynching case, where two youths were brutally killed suspicion of being child lifters in Karbi Anglong district.

Through twitter, Sonowal said, "I urge everyone to maintain peace and social harmony and not to fall prey to rumours. Police have already arrested 5 suspects. We won't spare anyone and strictest of punishment will be given to the culprits".

People and civil society organizations across the state have condemned the brutal killings and demanded action against the culprits.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested 16 people for their alleged involvement in the case. Those arrested are: Biju Basumatary (25), Biswaram Swargiary (22), Dhunda Mech (25), Dhunu Mech (45), Dipjyoti Basumatary (26), Horukon Swargiary (20), Pangtheng Basumatary (30), Ram Swargiary (21), Umesh Khaklary (26), Babu Rongpi aka Busu Rongpi (20), Anos Timung (49), Sanjay Terang (19), Bidyasing Rongpi (18), Anand Rongpi (19), Raju Bey (19) and Bhupendra Terang aka Edwinson Terang (18).
