CM Orders To Arrest Garga Chatterjee for his Derogatory Statement Against Sukapha

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal ordered to arrest Garga Chatterjee, a resident of Kolkata who insulted Sukapha, the founder of the Ahom Kingdom on Twitter.

The Chief Minister instructed Guwahati Commissioner of Police to move to West Bengal today itself. The Commissioner of Police has been instructed to arrest Chatterjee and bring him to Assam.

An FIR was also lodged against Chatterjee on Thursday by a resident of Dibrugarh at Dibrugarh Police Station.

In a series of tweets, Chatterjee called the great Ahom king as Chinese invader and questioned Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal for celebrating ‘Asom Divas’ which is in commemoration of Chaolung Sukapha.

However, Chatterjee later deleted the tweets.

The FIR lodged by one Bhaskar Gogoi demanded strict punishment against him. The Assam Government should write to Twitter to suspend his account, Gogoi said.
