CM Sarma Inaugurates Atal Park, Lays Out Plan For City’s Development

The CM further spoke about other developmental projects around the city. He said, "A park over 26 bighas of land at Chandmari area is under planning".

Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today inaugurated a new park in the city's Adabari area. The construction of the park was undertaken by the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA).

At the inauguration were present, Minister Ashok Singhal, GMDA Chairman Narayan Deka, and Member of the Lok Sabha from Guwahati constituency, Queen Oja.

The park has been constructed over eight bighas of land. The CM, after inaugurating the park, also went around taking a look.

Speaking at the event, CM Sarma said, "The park at Hengrabari will be completed soon and inaugurated somewhere around Bihu. The botanical garden of Fasi Bazar will be completed in early 2023".

The CM further spoke about other developmental projects around the city. He said, "A park over 26 bighas of land at Chandmari area is under planning".

He then said that the newly inaugurated park was named after former Prime Minister, late Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He also mentioned that in the next five years, the face of Guwahati will be completely changed.

CM Sarma said that the construction of a satellite township was also being planned. He further said, "Construction works of Suwalkuchi Bridge will also begin. The Narengi-Kuruwa Bridge construction will also start soon.

The CM also spoke about plans for the construction of a ring road around the city. He further informed that the construction of the Maligaon Flyover will be over by April 2023. An elevator for the aged and physically challenged will also be provided at the Kamakhya temple, he said.

"We are planning to give a new look to the Gita Mandir. Plans for shifting all government offices near the Tirupati Balaji temple are also in place. 42 directorate offices will be in the same place. The DC Court will be shifted to Rupnagar", the CM said.

The CM said, "Indoor stadiums at the four constituencies of Guwahati are being planned. There will be a stadium like the one at Sarusajai, built at Chandrapur".

He further informed that the Pandu F R U Hospital will be under the GMCH. Doctors from GMCH will manage it from January 1.

The management committees of various parks around the city have been provided with 4-5 lakhs. Further assistance will be provided for maintenance when needed.

While speaking, the CM also mentioned the drugs menace in the state and how it affected the youth. "Everyday drugs are being seized. We will have to correct the ill effects of drugs with sporting activities, he said.
