CM Sonowal reviews present condition of Assam-Nagaland border

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal reviewed the present condition of Assam-Nagaland border adjoining the Sivasagar district in a meeting held at Sivasagar Circuit House today.

The Chief Minister also took stock of flood preparedness of the administration and present situation at the Assam-Nagaland border adjoining the district.

He also reviewed the steps taken by Sivasagar district administration to control COVID-19 outbreak in the district.

Urging the district officials to render dedicated service at this challenging time, the Chief Minister asked to take measures for ensuring strict implementation of social distancing norms and wearing mask by people and other health related guidelines. He also directed the district administration to gear up its flood preparedness including advance planning for relief and rehabilitation. He also asked the officials to ensure compliance of social distancing norms at the flood relief camps to be set up by the district administration.

Further taking stock of power department activities, the Chief Minister directed the officials to take steps for repairing all defective transmission lines so that no incident of electrocution could take place at the time of flood.

Moreover, reviewing the activities of Panchayat & Rural Development Department, the Chief Minister asked the officials to take measures for providing guaranteed work to migrant workers who returned to the State following coronavirus induced lockdown in the country. He enquired about the status of workers who returned to the district and directed the Deputy Commissioner to take expeditious measures for their skill upgradation. The Chief Minister also directed for timely implementation of P&RD schemes and early completion of repairing works of vulnerable embankments.
