Coal Syndicate | Govt. accepts failure

Finally, the State Mines & Minerals ministry of the Assam Government has accepted its failure to solve the coal syndicate issue. The state government has been taking the heat regarding coal syndicate from on the floor of the parliament continuously.

In a major breakthrough, Hills Area Development, Mines & Minerals minister Sum Ronghang said to media that the coal syndicate is active in the state. Dispur continues to suffer revenue loss for such syndicate raj.

"Based on information received, we've ordered an investigation into the alleged coal syndicate. We've specially instructed the DCs and SPs of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Karbi Anglong, and Dima Hasao to take measures to stop the menace".

Meanwhile, few lawmakers of ruling and opposition demanded an immediate high-level inquiry into it, to stop the rot.

Launching a blistering attack on the Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Nagaon MP Pradyut Bordoloi said all the reserve forests are now on the verge of extinction due to coal syndicate but the Chief Minister is not bothered.

He also alleged that the administration, forest department, and the Assam government are involved in the coal-syndicate that has been going on in various places in the state.

Challenging CM Sonowal and Minister of Industry and Commerce Chandra Mohan Patowary, Bordoloi proposed in the parliament to form a panel to probe into the coal-syndicate issue.
