A team of Assam Congress leaders will travel across the State for 16 days from Friday to help NRC left out genuine Indian citizens. The team includes several Congress MPs, MLAs and other leaders, including APCC president Ripun Bora, Rakibul Hussain and Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha.
The Congress team will begin their tour from Guwahati today and end it on September 28. The team will visit several places in Nagaon, Hojai, Tinsukia, Chirang, Dhubri, Bongaigaon, Kamrup (Rural), Karimganj, Hailakandi, Cachar and Sonitpur districts.
It may be mentioned here that over 19 lakh people were left out of the final NRC list.
“According to a decision taken by the APCC, we will visit different places of Assam to take stock of the post-NRC scenario,” Congress leader Rakibul Hussain said today, adding, “The team will interact with the people whose names have not been included in the final NRC list.”
