AssamPradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Ripun Bora on Wednesday said that theCongress will always oppose Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) for the sake ofthe indigenous people.
Addressing apress conference at Rajib Bhawan, Bora said that if BJP wants to make the statefree from foreigners' then why are they doing such drama urging to implementCAB in the Northeast.
He said thatthe BJP might bring CAB with their power but the Congress will never let ithappen and it will always oppose the CAB.
Reacting on NRC, Bora asked BJP as to why they have not accepted the NRC who always took credit for draft NRC. Why Amit Shah and Narendra Modi are silent on NRC, asked Bora?
Bora further claimed that the BJP wants to keep the shop of foreigners' open and that they want to rule the people by playing with their emotion. He further stated that the Supreme Court has made a guideline, a framework has been made by the top court but no judge has come to see the work.
The APCCPresident further asked BJP to show the names of foreigners' included in theNRC adding that the Congress will prove with valid documents the names of genuineIndian citizens whose names have been excluded from NRC.
The unionhome minister said that not a single name of genuine Indian citizens will beexcluded from the NRC then why the family members of Fakaruddin Ali Ahmed,Assam movement martyrs' family members name have been left out from the NRC?
