High drama was witnessed at leading hypermarket Vishal Mega Mart , Paltan Bazar on Monday evening after two Cotton University students were allegedly beaten up by the mart employees.
According to reports the students were beaten up by the employees suspecting them to be thieves. The duo have been identified as Ankit Kumar Gupta and Hirak Patowary both being third semester students.
The incident sparked a huge sensation among the students of the University and they protested and gheraoed the main entrance of the mall, raised slogans and charged the mall manager.
Later, Pantan Bazar police arrived at the spot and took stock of the matter. A case has been registered against the students of theft by the mart and further investigations are on.
