In recent developments associated with coronavirus in Assam, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated 133 fresh cases have been registered in the state. The active cases now stand at 2174.
73 of these cases have been recorded in Kamrup Metropolitan, 31 cases in Nagaon, 18 cases in Jorhat, 5 cases in Udalguri, 2 cases in Golaghat and Majuli each and 1 case in Dhemaji and Tinsukia each.
The total cases as of today have risen to 5388, recovered cases of 3202, active cases of 2174, and 9 deaths.
Meanwhile, the Assam Targeted Surveillance Programme on COVID19 is under process across the state. As part of this programme, tests are being conducted randomly among frontline workers, individuals employed in truck parking lots, unloading goods, and family members of those patients who were released from institutional quarantine.
The tests are being conducted from June 17 to 27 on people under these four vulnerable categories and around 50, 000 people will be tested, said the minister earlier last week.
The results of the tests conducted under the programme will reflect if the curve of the active cases will rise or flatten. Till June 20 the active cases have been considerably flat.
