A total of 578 COVID-19 patients were discharged today across Assam. This takes the total number of discharged patients to 10426, which is more than twice the active cases. The active cases stand at 5072.

This was announced by State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Taking to twitter, he wrote, "578 patients go home today. The discharged number doubles that of active cases, and that's a good news in a time like this."

On the other hand, in view of the rising number of positive cases in Kamrup Metro, the ongoing lockdown has been extended by a week.

It was suggested recently that in the absence of a lockdown extension, the gains being made in the past will be rendered useless.
