COVID-19: Assam Crosses 40,000 Marks

Assam crossed 40,000 marks in COVID-19 tally on Friday after 1862 new cases were reported in the state in the last 24 hours, tweeted State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

With the new cases detected yesterday, the tally reached 40269 with 9,811 active cases.

The minister in his tweet said that a total of 38,324 tests were conducted in the state in the last 24 hours, out of which 1862 patients have tested positive.

"The positivity rate of Assam stands at 4.85 per cent," Sarma further added.

Of the total cases reported on Friday, 281 are from Kamrup (metro), 202 from Kamrup (Rural), 140 from Cachar, 129 from Sonitpur, 117 from Dibrugarh, 114 from Nagaon and 105 from Jorhat.

Meanwhile, a total of 1277 patients were discharged from various hospitals and COVID care centres in the state on Friday.

A total of 30,357 numbers of patients have recovered in the state so far.

Meanwhile, with the death of four more patients, Assam's death tally rose to 98.
