The Assam Government has decided to reduce the home quarantine period of the COVID-19 patients after discharge from the hospital, informed state Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through his twitter handle.
The minister said that the limit of home quarantine has been reduced to 7 days instead of 14 days and the government will also not provide the essential items worth Rs. 2000 which was earlier provided to the patients after discharge excluding the people living under BPL, elderly people, ailing and to the Divyangan.
The minister in his tweet said, "With the evolving situation, Govt of Assam has decided to reduce the home quarantine period after discharge from hospital to 7 days. As such we will not provide essential items worth Rs 2000/ except to the families living under BPL, elderly people, ailing and to Divyangjan."
Moreover, a statement issued by the health department said that the government of Assam has extended financial assistance to the people of the state who are stranded outside due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The statement further said that the state government is also committed to provide maximum possible medical care and facilities to all people who have been affected by COVID-19 and ensured that all citizens have access to testing and will provide the treatment facility absolutely free of cost.
