India on Thursday thrashed West Indies by 125 runs to register their biggest ever victory (by runs) against the Caribbean side in World Cup history. The victory puts India go second on the points-table and on the brink of a semi-final berth. But it ended West Indies’ campaign in the World Cup.
The West Indies became clueless against Indian bowling attack led by Mohammed Shami (4/16). Earlier, India made 268/7, with the help of skipper Virat Kohli (72) and MS Dhoni’s (56*) half-centuries. Kohli awarded Man of the Match.
It may be mentioned here that India’s previous biggest victory against WI in World Cup (by 80 runs) came in 2011 edition. Also, the Caribbean side last defeated India in a WC match in the 1992 edition.
