Drinking Water Crisis in Amingaon
There has been a constant problem of drinking water in Guwahati and the residence of Amingaon area are facing acute water crisis in the constituency of Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Although the people repeatedly complained about the water crisis problem in the area but still the local MLA and Department of Public Health are least bothered about the problem.
People now have to depend on the water-pipe in the middle of the road. Although there are many water project lined up but still the Guwahati is facing acute crises as the water supply projects remain only as a hope for the people.
The water supply project initiated by Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) assisted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) has not yet completed. During the initiation of the project the GMDA official said that the water supply project will cater uninterrupted water supply to serve the population of Guwahati. The drinking water problem is a long pending problem for the citizens but the government has not yet come out with a permanent solution and the water supply project has also been not completed even after12 years of its inception.
The water crisis in the constituency of Himanta Biswa Sarma has proved that no development has taken place in the area and that the water supply project under the public health department has also failed to provide water to the people for which around hundreds of people have to rely on the water that rinses from the water pipe in the middle of the road.
