EC serves notice to makers of ‘PM Narendra Modi’

The Election Commission (EC) has served a notice to production house and the music company of the makers of the film 'PM Narendra Modi'. Various opposition parties objected the release of the film citing violation of Model Code of Conduct enforced ahead of general elections.

According to reports, notices have been also served to two newspapers for publishing advertisements for the film. Any political advertisements on electronic or social media have to be approved by officials in advance by the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee, said Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh.

The official also suggested the Election Commission (EC) could form guidelines for political films released during elections.

Earlier, Congress party members including Kapil Sibal, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Abhishek Manu Singhvi and RPN Singh had approached the EC seeking a ban on the film ahead of the LS Polls, claiming that it's being done with political motive.
