The Kamrup (Metro) district administration has carried out an eviction drive in the Jorabat and Khanapara areas. The district administration has taken the step after a major water-logging in these areas recently.
The areas are facing extensive encroachment. During the drive, a team of GMC officials along with the help of police evicted stalls, illegal houses that had been illegally set up in the areas.
According to GMC officials, the vendors, whose shops and homes were pulled down today, were occupying the lands illegally. All illegal constructions have been demolished in the area.
