Ex-CJI vacates official Bungalow in 3 days


Long before the deadline, former Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi has vacated his official residence in New Delhi and returned to Assam on Wednesday. He retired on17 November as the Chief Justice of India.

Justice Ranjan Gogoi has moved out of the 5 Krishna Menon Marg bungalow and become the first Chief Justice to vacate his official residence within three days of retirement.

It may be mentioned here that earlier, Justice JS Khehar, the former CJI, had vacated his official residence a week after his retirement.

Meanwhile, Justice Gogoi’s house in Guwahati was renovated and his security was upgraded to Z plus following the delivery of the historic Ayodhya verdict.

On his last working day, he sat in the Supreme Court’s number one court for a few minutes, during which the lawyers’ body of the Supreme Court paid tribute to him. After his retirement, Justice SA Bobde took over as the new Chief Justice of India.
