Excluded People from NRC Sent Back to Assam from Mizoram

The MizoramGovernment has sent a few hundred people back to Assam who were excluded fromthe National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Mizoram Home Minister Lalchamliana said that the people who were detected from the exclusion list of NRC have been sent back to Assam from the inter-state border adding that strict mobile patrolling was conducted on several roads where there were chances of people excluded from the NRC could sneak in. Mizoram police had detected a few such people since the day of the final publication of NRC on August 31.

The home minister said that the people had been sent back to their state as the Mizoram government has adopted stricter measures to block such illegal entries to the state.

The homeminister further stated that the government was planning to computerize theInner Line Permit (ILP) system so that the documents could be verified at allthe police check posts.

Presidentof the People's Representation for Identity and Status of Mizoram (PRISM),Vanlalruata has backed the move saying that it was time for illegal people tobe out of the state.

Speaking on the lines ofCitizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB), the PRISM President said, "I have beenopposing this bill since the very beginning. This will open up the borders formigrants and I completely oppose this."
