Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Facebook post on the controversial viral video of alleged AIUDF supporters sloganeering 'Pakistan Zindabad' was flagged by the social media website on Saturday. However, the video is yet to be taken down.
The incident reportedly makes Mr. Sharma the first politician from Northeast whose video has been flagged by Facebook.
Facebook citing reasons of claiming false information has flagged the video based on fact checking by independent fact checking agency Boom LIVE . The social media giant, in several countries, work with independent fact checkers who are certified through the non-partisan International Fact-Checking Network to help identify and review false information.
Facebook also stated that besides Himanta Biswa Sarma, media outlets News 18 and Times Now have "falsely claim 'Pakistan Zindabad' slogans in Assam".
Mr. Sarma posted the video on his timeline on Friday at 11.42 am with a caption stating, "Look at the brazenness of these fundamentalists anti-national people who are shouting PAKISTAN ZINDABAD while they welcome MP Ajmal," adding, "This thoroughly exposes Indian National Congress which is encouraging such forces by forging an alliance. We shall fight them tooth & nail. Jai Hind".
Mr. Sharma also tweeted the same video, however, Twitter has not flagged the tweet.
