Fake news of prominent Assamese film actor Nipon Goswami’s death has been doing the rounds on social media. Several people and facebook pages have posted the news on Friday evening.
However, family members of Goswami rubbished the report and termed it as a hoax. “Please disregard fake news by malicious websites and facebook pages regarding Nipon Goswami’s health and well being. He is safe in his house,” said a family member of Nipon Goswami, while speaking to Pratidin Time. “And please avoid sharing fake news,” added the family member.
It may be mentioned here that Goswami was admitted at GNRC hospital at Six Mile on June 11 after he had slipped and fell on the wet bathroom floor. He suffered a leg injury.
Goswami, counted as one of the most prominent actors of Assam, acted in several Assamese films. He debuted in the Assamese film industry as a child artist in the movie Piyali Phukan, directed by Phani Sarma in 1957.
