The forum against sexual harassment in educational institutions (FASHEI) – a city-based organization has visited Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi seeking his intervention regarding the appointment of the new VC of Assam's Cultural University Dr. Dambarudhar Nath – who has been accused of sexual harassment by a female student, FASHEI asked the governor to hang his appointment until the investigation into the sexual harassment case against him is over.
It may be mentioned that an FIR has been lodged against Dr. Nath at the Sonari Police Station in Charaideo district of Assam in the first week of June 2019. In the FIR, the student accused him of sexual harassment while she was a student of history at the DU in 2016.
Former Dibrugarh University (DU) Professor Dr. Dambarudhar Nath has recently been appointed as the first vice-chancellor of the Majuli Cultural University.
