Filmmaker Nishikant Kamat Critical, Hospitalized

Filmmaker Nishikant Kamat is in a critical condition and has been admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad. Reportedly, Kamat suffered from liver cirrhosis in the past and that has relapsed. When his condition worsened, he was immediately hospitalized.

Kamat is known for films like Drishyam, Madaari, Mumbai Meri Jaan, and more. Apart from that, the filmmaker has also acted in a few Marathi films, namely Saatchya Aat Gharat, among others. His directorial debut with the Marathi film Dombivali Fast in 2005 went on to become one of the biggest hits of the year in Marathi cinema. The film was also critically acclaimed and bagged the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi in 2006.

Kamat's most noted work in recent times was Ajay Devgn's Drishyam, released in 2015. The film also starred Tabu in the lead. Incidentally, the film completed five years a few days ago, and Tabu had shared the same on her Instagram account. "Five years!!! @ajaydevgn @viacom18studios @shriya_saran1109 (sic)," Tabu had written, along with a poster of Drishyam.

NIshikant Nishikant Kamat was recently seen in a negative role in the John Abraham-starrer Rocky Handsome, released in 2016. Apart from that, he has acted in Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, Fugay, and Julie 2. Nishikant Kamat was working on his next, Darbadar, which was expected to release in 2022.
