The first cricket match of the five-match test series between England and India is slated to take place on Wednesday in Birmingham at 3:30 pm IST.

The match will be played at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground and will be the English team's 1000th Test match.

India last won a Test series in England in 2007 under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid. In 2014, the Indian team suffered a defeat at the hands of the hosts.

In the current UK tour, India emerged victorious in the Twenty20 series against England but was unfortunately defeated by the English team 2-1 in the One Day International series.
