The Foreigners’ Tribunals of Assam seems like it is competing to send people in detention camp one by one before the much awaited National Register of Citizens’ (NRC) to be published on July 31 and the additional draft list of which was published on Wednesday.
After veteran Army leader Mohammad Sanaullah, a resident of Golaghat Dolly Roy and Madhubala Mandal who now walked out of the detention camp after providing requisite documents, now is the time that one Somiran Bibi of Kokrajhar has been arrested by the border branch of Jorhat police and sent to the detention camp at the Central Jail, Jorhat after she was declared foreigner by Foreigners’ Tribunal.
Somiran Bibi, who is the daughter of Lukman Ali from Kortimari village under Gossaigaon police station in Kokrajhar district was declared a foreigner by the Foreigners’ Tribunal, Jorhat in 2014 ex-parte after she remained absent in the tribunal for several times.
According to police, Bibi who was reportedly married to Israel Khan is a resident of Bihar and is currently living at Jorhat. Bibi also had a case registered against her at the FT, Jorhat in 2006 by the border branch of police.
She was however untraceable after the case has been registered against her in the FT.
But on Tuesday, Bibi was found residing with her husband at a rented house in Jorhat by the border police team.
According to reports, she has been sent to detention camp by the police after confirming her identity.
