Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court (GHC) Ajai Lamba has been administered the oath of office on Monday at Raj Bhawan by Governor Jagadish Mukhi.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was also present at the oath-taking ceremony.
Justice Lamba has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court on Saturday last.
Lamba, who was born on September 21, 1958 graduated in English Honours from Government College, Chandigarh and completed an LLB course from Punjab University.
He was enrolled as an Advocate in 1981. Lamba practiced law on civil, criminal and revenue side as well as cases relating to Labour Law, Company Law, Service Law and The Constitution of India.
He was then elevated as Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court on 22 March 2006. Justice Lamba was transferred to Allahabad High Court on 9 December 2011 and elevated as Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court on October 5, 2019.
