GoAir Airlines, is all set to launch its daily flights in the Aizawl-Guwahati sector from October 4.
Officials from GoAir visited Aizawl to inspect the Lengpui airport and to finalize the modalities to launch the direct air connectivity with Guwahati.
However, Mizoram at present has only direct air connectivity to Kolkata after Jet Airways has withdrawn its flight services to Guwahati and Delhi in February this year.
Presently, Air India is the only airline who is running the flight service from Aizawl to Kolkata.
The officials of GoAir are optimistic that the Aizawl-Guwahati sector is going to be cost-effective and popular.
GoAir had launched its operations as a low-fare carrier to commoditize air travel and offer airline seats at marginal premium to train fares across India in November 2005.
The airline, at present operates over 300 flights daily and approximately 1800 weekly flights across 31 destinations- 24 domestic and 7 international.
The airlines have announced that the new flight will depart from Guwahati at 6.50 am and will arrive Lengpui airport at 7.50 am and the departure from Aizawl has been fixed at 8.40 am and it will arrive Guwahati at 9.50am. It is also planning to deploy 320 Airbus in the sector.
