Eminent linguist Golok Chandra Goswami is no more. He passed away on Friday morning at his residence in Guwahati. Goswami was 96 at the time of his death.
He was born in Morigaon in the year 1923. Goswami pursued his masters’ degree in Assamese language from Gauhati University. In 1985, he retired from the Gauhati University. Assam Bhasha Bikash Samiti accorded him ‘Bhashacharya’ title. In 2018, he was awarded with Hemchandra Barua Bhasha Sahitya Sadhana Award by Sadin-Pratidin Group.

Meanwhile, Assam Sahitya Sabha condoled demise of Golok Chandra Goswami. In a press statement, the apex literary body said that Goswami contributed towards strengthening the Assamese language throughout his life.
