Good news for Assam students as the Gauhati High Court (GHC) on Wednesday reduced the cutoff percentage for appearing in the entrance examination for MBBS courses. Now any students of Science stream with 50 percent marks in HSSLC examination can appear in the entrance examination for MBBS courses.

The GHC in a judgement scrapped the Medical College Admission Rule 2017 and said that students with 50 percent marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English can apply and appear in the entrance examination for MBBS courses.

It may be mentioned here that earlier, only the students with 60 percent aggregated marks could apply and appear in the entrance examination.
