Google dedicated its doodle honouring Vikram Sarabhai on his centenary birth anniversary on Monday.

According to report, the doodle illustration has been created by a Mumbai based artist Pavan Rajurkar.

Sarabhai, who is considered as the Father of the Indian Space programme established the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

Born in August 12, 1919 at Ahmedabad, Sarabhai attended Gujarat College before earning his doctorate from Cambridge University.

He founded the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) in Ahmedabad on November 11, 1947 at the age of 28.

Sarabhai was instrumental in convincing the then Indian government of the importance of a space programme and his endeavours were supported by Dr. Homi Bhabha who is considered as the Father of India’s nuclear science programme.

It was Sarabhai’s tireless efforts in the field of space programmes that India resulted in the launch of India’s first satellite ‘Aryabhata’ in the year 1975, five years after his death in 1971.
