Govt holds meeting with Pro talks ULFA leaders

A meeting was chaired between Pro talk United Liberation front of Assam (ULFA) faction and the Centre in Delhi on Tuesday. Senior leader Anup Chetia, Sasadhar Chaudhary, Chitraban Hazarika and Raju Barua who were present at the meeting  informed that the peace talks are in the right direction and soon a conclusion will be reached.

Government interlocutor for talks with ULFA, AB Mathur  and  ADGP (Special Branch) of Assam Police, Pallab Bhattacharya, representing  Assam Government were present at the meeting.

Anup Chetia, in a press conference after the meeting said that the demands of the ULFA pro talks faction and Assam's present scenarios were discussed at the meeting.

Talking about his former see-to man in ULFA, Paresh Barua, Chetia said, Paresh Barua is leading a separate organisation hence his issue was irrelevant at the meeting.

Reacting  over the remarks made by All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students' Association founder president Pradip Dutta Roy on division of Assam, Chetia said, "We don't want further division of Assam as it would halt the development process of the state".

He also added that a special financial assistance for Barak valley was included in their demand charter.

The following meeting with the interlocutors will be held at Guwahati.
