Greenwood Incident: CM Conrad Sangma Wants Violators Punished

The Greenwood incident, which involved a marriage party from Shillong coming to the Greenwood Resort of Khanapara on June 27 flouting the guidelines laid down by the Administration, has sparked a row in Meghalaya.

As learnt, as many as 27 people came for the wedding as against 5 passes issued to the bride and four others.

Matters turned more serious when two attendees were found to be carrying the contagion later. The group has been accused of suppression of facts, besides violating the pandemic-induced protocols.

CM of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma has now officially announced about punishing the violators. Taking to Twitter, he wrote, "In regards to the Greenwood incident, I have directed the DC of EKH to take necessary action against the violators as per the relevant provisions of the IPC, Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, #COVID__19 Regulations, 2020 & the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897."

The state of Meghalaya has suddenly found itself in a soup. It has seen a sudden jump in the positive cases. The active cases stands at 139 in Meghalaya till the writing of this news report.
