The Guwahati metropolitan area is all set to expand by 3463.67 Sqkm within three months to cope with the population boom in the next decade.
According to a master plan prepared by the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), the GMDA appointed a committee to suggest ways to implement the task successfully.
The committee will submit the recommendations within the stipulated three-month time.
The GMDA already determined to extend the boundaries of the Guwahati Metropolitan Region to include parts of Morigaon, Nalbari, Kamrup, and Darrang district.
The extension of boundaries will boost development in the Guwahati Metropolitan Region area, a senior urban development department official said.
