Come July 1, one can reach Dhaka from Guwahati in just 5 minutes with a ticket price lesser than that of a Guwahati Delhi Flight.
As the ticket portals have opened for booking a round fare between Guwahati-Dhaka is Rs 7971 which is actually cheaper than a festival season Guwahati-Delhi flight.
The flight to be operated by Spice jet shall be formally inaugurated by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal tomorrow at Guwahati.
The daily flight will leave Guwahati 1135 and reach 1320 and leave Dhaka at 1410 and reach Guwahati at 1435. Here one must take into consideration the time difference 30 minutes between Guwahati and Dhaka as Bangladesh time is half an hour ahead of Indian Time.
This is the first flight under the IACS scheme, also referred to as International Udan. The promotional price for a one-way trip between Guwahati and Dhaka will cost Rs 3,355.
SpiceJet was selected in January to operate flights to Dhaka and Bangkok under the Assam government’s initiative to boost international connectivity.
The state government is providing an annual viability gap funding of Rs 11 crore for the two routes.
Initially, Assam had proposed to connect Guwahati with six overseas destinations — Dhaka, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Yangon, and Kathmandu, but it received valid bids for only two routes.
A civil aviation ministry official said bids for more routes would be considered after an assessment of how the two routes pan out.
