Haj pilgrims Attack: Ajmal demands action

AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal on Friday asked Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal to take stringent action against culprits who attacked Haj pilgrims in Silchar, which took place on Thursday.

As per reports, three Haj pilgrims namely Jamir Uddin Laskar, Abdul Khaleque Choudhury and Nazir Ahmed Laskar were attacked by a group of 10-12 miscreants.

The incident occurred at central road in Silchar town when the three victims were on their way to the District Administration’s office to collect their identity cards for the Haj pilgrimage. They were stopped on road, abused, their skull-caps thrown and attacked by miscreants.

The miscreants also threatened them to cut into pieces and throw them into river. This is not the first incident as recently similar incident took place in Barpeta town in which some Muslim men in Barpeta town were stopped and beaten up.

The victims were forced to chant slogans like “Jai Shri Ram”, “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Pakistan Murdabad”.

AIUDF also demanded to bring a tough law against mob lynching with provision of 10-year jail and fine of 10 lakh on people involved in it.
