At a time when there are allegations of not only the opposition but their own party members have been trying to defame CM Sarbananda Sonowal as well, former CM of Assam Tarun Gogoi has alleged that none but Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is behind the plot.
In a press conference held in Guwahati on Monday, Gogoi has said "Himanta is trying to malign the image of Sarbananda".
"If Himanta had still been in Congress, he would have become the Chief Minister", said Gogoi and added, "Now there is a battle going on for power".
However, Gogoi has also dropped hints that despite Himanta Biswa Sarma's unpleasant behavior towards him, the former may even forgive the latter for being a father figure, but Gogoi has not assured of taking Sarma back in their party.
