In a latest development, another two accused in the doctor assault case in Lanka have been arrested. The arrested have been identified as Makbul Ahmed who surrendered at Khatkhati police station in Karbi Anglong and the other accused is Jasmin Uddin Borbhuyan.
The Hojai Police are interrogating both the accused regarding the doctor assault case in Hojai.
Meanwhile, 34 have been arrested in connection to the case so far.
On June 12, the prime accused was arrested by Lanka Police.
It may be mentioned that on June 1. an on-duty doctor Dr. Seuj Senapati was brutally assaulted by a group of men at the Udali Covid Care Centre in Hojai district after a Covid-19 patient passed away.
Dr. Seuj Senapati who works with Fultali Model Hospital under Lanka Police Station was assaulted by the mob. He received a bone fracture in his face. However, he has now been discharged from the hospital after recovery.
Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma earlier instructed the police department to take stern action against the culprits.
Cases have also been registered against the culprits.
