The Homeopathy Central Council bill whichseeks to extend the period for reconstitution from the existing period of oneyear to two years was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Friday.
The Homeopathy Central Council(Amendment) Bill, 2019 seeks to extend the period for reconstitution of theCentral Council so that the tenure of the Board of Governors may be extendedfor a further period of one year with effect from May 17, 2019.
Health Minister Harsh Vardhan introducedthe bill in the Lok Sabha on behalf of Ayush minister Shripad Naik.
The bill seeks to replace an ordinanceissued in this regard by the previous government.
The bill will help the Central Council ofHomeopathy in exercising the powers and performing functions of the Council.
The affairs of the Central HomeopathyCouncil have been entrusted to a Board of Governors comprising eminent andqualified homeopathy doctors and eminent administrators till such a time thecouncil is reconstituted.
However, the tenure has been extendedsince the council could not be reconstituted within one year due tonon-updation of state registers of homeopathy and general elections.
