Virat Kohli-led Indian cricket team on the intervening night of May 21-May 22 left for England to participate at the 12th edition of the ICC World Cup which will be held in England & Wales from May 30 to July 14 next.
The 15-member squad along with the support staff boarded the flight for England from Mumbai.
Before the real battle begins on May 30, the teams will lock horn against each other in a number of warm-up games. India will play New Zealand and Bangladesh on May 25 and May 28 respectively.
It may be mentioned here that this will be Virat Kohli’s third World Cup and first as Captain.
Kohli first played for the Men In Blue at the 2011World Cup, jointly hosted by India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. The Indian team lead my MS Dhoni lifted the coveted cup in the year for the second time after a gap of 28 years.
The 2019 edition will be Dhoni’s fourth and probably the ‘final’ World Cup. Dhoni has represented India at 2007, 2011, and 2015 editions of the tournament.
