Former Assam Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tarun Gogoi on Saturday said that he was ready to become the president of Assam Congress. “If given the responsibilities, I am ready to become the president of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee,” said Gogoi, addressing the media in Guwahati.
“I have the self-confidence to defeat BJP,” Gogoi affirmed.
Slamming party leader and MP Abdul Khaleque over the defeat of Congress candidate in Jania, the senior Congress leader said, “MP Khaleque wanted to take all the credit; they have not given me any responsibilities.”
It may be mentioned here that the Congress party has failed to score in the recently held by-elections in four assembly seats in Assam.
