Zakir Rashid Bhat alias Zakir Musa, touted as “India’s most wanted militant’ was reportedly killed on Thursday evening in a gunfight with security forces at Dadsara village in the Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
According to reports, acting on a special intelligence, Army’s 43 RR, Special Operations Group of J&K Police and CRPF cordoned off the village and trapped Musa near his home.
The slain militant had come to visit his home.
A senior police officer informed the media that security forces asked Musa to surrender, but he didn’t oblige and eventually a gunfight took place in which the militant leader was killed.
It may be mentioned here that Musa was a former commander of Hijbul Mujahideen. He joined the organisation in 2013 while he was pursuing engineering from Punjab.
Meanwhile, internet sevices in the state have been suspended and educational institutions will also remain shut on Friday owing to a possible breach in the law and order situation of the state.
