Japanese Encephalitis Claims 29 in Assam

Several places in Assam has registered a rise in cases of Japanese encephalitis with Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) admitting 107 patients in the last few weeks, out of which 29 have lost their loves so far.

Even though the disease has not spread widely yet, however, precautions have been taken to keep the disease under check.

To control the spread of the disease and face any situation, the AMCH has prepared itself and proper medicines are being kept on stock. Moreover, it has also kept four beds reserved at the ICU in case of JE emergency.

Meanwhile, a person in Rangia has also been identified to have been infected with Japanese encephalitis.

Identified as Tantipara's Pabin Mondol, he is currently undergoing treatment at a private nursing home in Guwahati.

It may be mentioned here that Mondol was first admitted at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) but since there was no ICUs available he had to be shifted to a private nursing home.

He is stated to be in critical condition.
