Japanese Encephalitis Death Toll Reaches 107
The increasing number of deaths due to Japanese Encephalitis in Assam has proved that the state government has failed to prevent the disease although the doctors are being strictly instructed to take utmost care of the patients’ suffering from the disease.
The death toll of JE reaches to 107 till July 21 according to National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin after three more cases of deaths reported from Goalpara and Bongaigaon. As per the daily NHM Bulletin, the registered positive cases of JE are 469 till July 21.
Earlier, Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had instructed the doctors and hospitals to take all preventive measures to combat the disease and the leaves of the doctors have also been cancelled till September 30. But it seems that the health department has failed to provide necessary treatment to the patients’ for which the death toll is increasing and one death is reported everyday in the state.
