- Sonowal reaches New Delhi by 4 p.m
- Sonowal- Rajnath meet at 6 p.m
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at 6 p.m is meeting Union Home minister Rajnath Singh as Assam is nervously looking up to New Delhi in this crucial moment of history.
Sonowal will meet the Union Home Minister to take stock of the situation arising out of today’s development. The final report will be submitted on December 5 as the winter session of the Parliament open on December 11.
The CAB is expected to be passed at Lok Sabha by the end of the winter session but it will not be a law as it would be blocked at the Upper House.
Meanwhile in a last ditch attempt the AASU is taking the battle to pan Indian level, meeting the opposition leaders. Yesterday they met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandra Babu Naidu.
The AGP has also reaffirmed that they would come out of the alliance the day the it would be passed. The AGP is hoping that CAB would be caught in the Rafale logjam in the Parliament and their continuance in the ministry would be prolonged for few more months as there would be a brief session before General Election takes place and in that session, no Bill would be discussed as it would be vote on account.
So the ball is now squarely at the court of the prime minister and Home ministers whether they would bring an ordinance to by-pass the Parliament log jam. This is also difficult as three ministries External Affairs, Home and ALw ministry have objected to the bill on technical ground and opined that it would not stand the scrutiny of the Supreme Court.
