The covid situation has come under control and the Kaziranga National Park authorities are ready to open the National park to tourists on October 1 if the flood problem does not arises.
Kaziranga National Park director P Shivakumar said that the risk of floods cannot be ruled out as the Brahmaputra's water level in Pasighat is rising even if it is not flooded so far. But if the threat of floods is gone, the tourist routes that are damaged due to rain can be repaired in September and the National Park can be opened to tourists on the first October.
In addition, a 15-kilometres road has been open to the newly added Bagcher Hills in the National Park for tourists' tracking in the coming year.
The national park authorities had planned last year to keep the Bagari Forest open for the Bandardubi tourists, although the tourism period closes in the month of May every year.
However, it was not possible due to the covid situation. But this time the Bandardubi is being re-planned to remain open for a long time. The covid situation is under control as well as enough covid vaccine is being given.
Director Shivakumar has expressed hope that the number of tourists will be as expected in the coming tourist year. The National Park, which usually has 70-80 thousand domestic tourists, has created a record of more than 2 lakh domestic tourists in the last tourist year. The arrival of international tourists is not promising for the covid situation but this time the number of domestic tourists is expected to increase.
